ARCHITECTURE AND INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
The micro-house manages to accommodate all every day living necessities in a limited space of 3m². An empty white room with the dimensions of 140 cm times 200 cm and a height of 450 cm serves as a starting point. All the furniture is stored in a cabinet unit and can be folded out when needed. Therefore, the kitchen can be transformed optionally into a bathroom or a workroom.
The sleeping area is folded down as a separate level and divides the tall space into two rooms. Further with an additional fold-able floor plate the dormitory may be transformed into a living room. The individual floors are reachable via a ladder positioned on the side wall that goes all the way up to the rooftop that is used as a green oasis.
A light interior as well as interesting lookouts are created through the window arrangement. In combination with the adjacent housing capsules the windows compose a continuous pattern. Each party has their own open garden area and may use the common park as a way to reinforce the interaction between the residents.
The micro-house wins over with its easy folding-mechanisms which are entirely performed mechanically. It offers a compact short-time housing for students, young artists and athletes. It invites the user to experiment their own life on small space.
