„Bloom“ is an installation situated in the foyer of the TECE GmbH headquarter of Austria in Ebreichsdorf, Lower Austria. Its purpose is to describe the function of a floor heating. Just the same as in the floor heating technology warm and cold water is being piped through the tubes.
However in this case the main interest is not to heat a surface but to show the viewer how fast the TECE floor SLQ Pipes may be warmed up. 100 metres of straight pipe length and a total of 300 pipe clips are being used in the installation. The object, which is hanging in a frame made of TECE steel profiles, is 3 metres long and has a width of 2.5 metres.
The effect of the temperature transformation becomes visible through thermochromic paint – if warm water is piped through, the installation turns magenta, if the water is cold however, it changes its colour to purple.
Since the object only comes to life through water, an organic design resembling the floral character of the plant world was chosen. “Bloom” distinguishes itself through its vivid and colourful character that varies depending on the temperature.
