Our project deals with the issue of allergies in future generations. To prevent them we create a system offered in the pharmacy. Re-Germing is a service that uses the expertise of the pharmacist for individual treatment.
Studies have shown that we need certain bacteria to resist allergies. To proof our concept we collaborated with various scientists. The human immune system is most flexible at a young age, making children our target group. Dr. Weinstock, the director of gastroenterology in Boston states: “Children should be allowed to go barefoot in the dirt, play in the dirt, and not have to wash their hands when they come in to eat‘ (…) children who grow up on farms and are frequently exposed to worms and other organisms from farm animals are much less likely to develop allergies and autoimmune diseases.”
To bring our idea closer to our kids, we focused on toys to ensure a safe and playful treatment. Under the close observation of a pharmacist, controlled microbes are being applied on toys. Every child‘s toy is initially scanned and analysed to create an individual microbe set-up. There are a wide variety of microbes from different environments available. The aim is to get your child in contact with germs that they would not normally have access to and as a result strengthen their immune system from the very start.
Parents can buy pre-set Germ Toys at the pharmacy or just bring along their child‘s favourite toy for analysing and re-germing at every pharmacy‘s laboratory. These are kept transparent and open to offer the customer a fun and informative time while waiting for their toys. Furthermore, these waiting times can be used to view all the other products available or get an expert‘s advice on the latest health issues.
Today‘s pharmacy is essential for sustaining a healthy society . Our concept brings in the new topic of prevention and along with it a whole group of new customers.
